At, we want to encourage you to blog about Manipal (Or whichever place you reside at), your college experiences, Movie/Book/Video Game reviews, food, travel, hotel or even your creativity in the form of Cartoons/Photography/Short Stories and Poetry.

Our goal is four-fold:

  1. To raise the visibility of Manipal and it’s beautiful surroundings,
  2. To encourage your creative talents and provide a platform for taking your views to the world!
  3. To make a contribution to our life experience as part of Manipal and Mangalore and also elsewhere where the Manipal University institutions are present, and
  4. To give every newbie and resident of Manipal, a perspective of what can be termed as The Manipal Experience.

In order to participate in this blog initiative, you must abide by the following guidelines:

  1. Start by contacting us. Before we can include you as a blogger at, we would like to know a little about you. Start with your name, your institution, where you are located and where you are originally from. What is the stuff you would like to be blogging about (it may be on any or all of the topics we have mentioned above). We would also like a sample of your writing. (This is not mandatory, however It would help us in alloting our editorial staff).

  1. Write as yourself. In other words, please use your real name. We don’t want people writing anonymously or under a pseudonym. This will add credibility with your readers and promote accountability within our Website.
  1. Own your content. Write what  represent your own thoughts and opinions. You assume full responsibility and liability for all actions arising from your posts. Do not post stuff on which is not written by you and do not post content from your personal blog to The content should be original (i.e. Not posted elsewhere on the Internet).
  1. Write relevant. Write often. Whether you know it or not, you are an expert. You have a unique perspective on The Manipal Experience based on your talents, skills, and current responsibilities. People want to hear about that perspective. Also, in order to develop a consistent readership, you should try to write on a regular basis. For some, this will be daily; for others, it may be weekly. The important thing is consistent posting. (We suggest a minimum of a Weekly post).
New content is what keeps readers coming back. If you have a question about this, check with your  personal sub-editor.
  1. Be nice. Avoid attacking other individuals or institutions. This includes fellow authors, commentors, or competitors. You are welcome to disagree with the administrators/ Manipal University policies, provided your tone is respectful. If in doubt, we suggest that you “sleep on it” and then let some of your colleagues— perhaps even your  personal sub-editor —review your work before you post it.

  1. Keep secrets. Do not disclose sensitive, proprietary or confidential information about, other than what is publicly available on our site. Again, if in doubt, check with your supervisor before posting this type of information.

  1. Respect copyrights. For your protection, do not post any material that is copyrighted unless (a) you are the copyright owner, (b) you have written permission of the copyright owner to post the copyrighted material on your blog, or (c) you are sure that the use of any copyrighted material is permitted by the legal doctrine of “fair use.” (Please note: this is your responsibility. We cannot provide you with legal advice regarding this.)

  1. Obey the law. This goes without saying, but by way of reminder, do not post any material that is obscene, defamatory, profane, libelous, threatening, harassing, abusive, hateful, embarrassing to another person or entity, or violates the privacy rights of another. Also, do not post material that contains viruses, Trojan horses, worms, or any other computer code that is intended to damage, interfere with, or surreptitiously intercept or expropriate any system, data, or information.
